ABOUT ME
I am a Brookline, MA native who has been in the education field for over 15 years now! I graduated Summa Cum Laude at Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pennsylvania with a B.A. in Education. I’ve always had a specific passion for helping children, so I decided to take my degree one step further and graduated at one of the top graduate schools for education at Boston College with a Masters Degree in Education. I have been a Newton Public School teacher as well as a certified tutor for the past decade. I have taught and tutored students in English, Reading, Writing, Math, and Science from grades 1 all the way through high school in 3 separate states: Massachusetts, New York, and Florida, each licensed and certified. I am also fluent in Spanish and specialize in teaching executive functioning skills that provide all students with the tools they need to succeed regardless of the subject or level. I am successful in helping to build confidence and inspiration to all my students and for this reason, I have built an amazing rapport with them. At the forefront of my teaching objective is pure enthusiasm. I have always been the teacher who makes the classroom come alive, by bringing in as many manipulatives, tools, hands-on activities, and of course laughter as much as possible! I am able to relate to all of my students so that they feel both comfortable and excited about the learning process. I look forward to assisting your child to strive for success and equip him/her with the necessary tools to succeed!
MY APPROACH TO TEACHING
As a multi-sensory tutor, I try and implement a variety of manipulatives/educational games in each of my lessons so that the students remain constantly engaged, focused, and excited. More importantly, in my 15 years of teaching, I have successfully demonstrated my awareness of different learning styles and have adjusted my learning plans to meet the varied needs of all my students. The students I tutor are given a unique, self-designed lesson plan where I initially assess each of their skills and abilities as well as their strengths and weaknesses. Then, we (the parents and I) work together to create a main objective that allows the student to succeed and strive in whatever areas of improvement are needed. I always commit to a one-on-one learning environment so that all my students get the full attention and experience they deserve. Unlike the classroom setting that can be intimidating and rather frustrating for many students, I offer a comfortable and enjoyable learning atmosphere. I can personally guarantee that each of my students look forward to coming to our tutoring sessions!
